Grizzly Bear Habitat

GEOG 2100

This was the write up of my final project in Intro to GIS (Geographic Information System). For the project I used tools in ArcGIS to form an area that was suitable for a grizzly bear habitat based off specific criteria such as distance from highway, distance to water source, land type, etc. This paper summarizes my experience with the activity and knowledge of the software.

Previously Non-Participating Parties Progress Prom Past Problematic Presentation

WRIT 2555

This piece was inspired by another that I wrote in my Diverse Rhetorics course about the evolution of Senior Prom over the years, specifically through my mother and Is experiences. This piece is more research based, exploring the Senior Prom from a couple cultural viewpoints. In the course we learned about the rhetorics of various identities in America, so I focused on Asian-Americans and African-Americans and how these cultures have been and are now represented throughout Prom.

Development of Kansas City and Denver

FSEM 1111

I wrote this research paper at the conclusion of my freshman year seminar course. The course was titled Geographies of Metropolitan Denver, so I wrote this paper about how the metropolitan areas and histories of development of Denver and the closest big city to my hometown, Kansas City, compare and contrast.

WRIT 1122

My freshman year I took a course titled Remixes in Writing where we learned about the use of copy in writing and the difficulty in creating originally. I wrote this piece about a song I knew and a popular dance remix of the same song. I broke down the genre, purpose, audience, etc., of each song and analyzed the effectiveness of each at achieving their respective goals.

Rainfall-Runoff Analysis for the Lower Kansas Watershed

GEOG 3840

This is a scientific report on water resources in the Lower Kansas Watershed that I wrote for my Water Resource Analysis course. Throughout this course I used ArcGIS and various other software programs to map, evaluate, and understand water systems across the world. This paper was my final report outlining my actions and review of rainfall and runoff.

Professors Thoughts on Writing

WRIT 2000

In my Theories of Writing class I finished the quarter by interviewing three professors about their experiences and relationships with writing. I interviewed professors in geography, film, and GIS. I asked questions about their early memories with writing, their recent works, their various writing processes, etc. I finished the project by compiling my summary of their thoughts and what I learned from it.
